I second Lowbar.
If you're looking for crabs by the bushel go down to the Maine Street market. First of all, it's an experience in itself. Secondly, there's no point going to a sit down place, and paying their prices to walk out with crabs (if even necessary). You probably won't find better deals in the DC area than the market.
Baltimore's another story! I'd pick up the phone book (how antiquated) and call around. There are so many crab shacks you can throw a rock over your shoulder and hit one!

I see you want take-out....from most outside-the-beltway parts of Maryland you frankly shouldn't even strongly consider any of the DC/NoVA places.
If you are in/very close to DC, I'd suggest going down to the Maine Avenue wharf to pick up your bushels...this is probably also the most economical way to go. For smaller volume eat-in, I like Quarterdeck too.

re: Lowbar
Thanks for your input everyone! I've had crabs in MD around Laurel, I don't really remember what the place was called but it was a little shack, they had soups and beverages also. But I've heard there was a better place that was very good. I am dying to find out where this one is or what it is called, but I'll def. try out the places suggested.
Thanks!!

To take home or to eat in? Eating in: Quarterdeck in Arlington- a long walk from the Rosslyn metro.

re: itstangy
I would say, not the Dancing Crab in Tenley Town. It is OK - I went there the other night and had a very good time, and left full and happy - but they only had Larges and our waitress was laughably bad (really... we were laughing. We kept trying to order things we needed from other waitresses that were passing by, so it wouldn't get screwed up).
So, Dancing Crab - pretty OK, and a fun time, but definitely not the best place in the area.
