We're right behind you - 7 years! Hope you enjoyed it. We went to Rivoli because it's a nice walk for us. Mostly, it was very good and our waiter's wine recommendations were spot on. The only less than stellar dish was the fish. It was a bit overcooked. The corn soup was outrageously good and so was the carrot gnochi. The flank steak was also very good.
Dessert was a custom ice cream cake from Sketch. Mmmmm : )

re: Cheesy Oysters
Yeah, Wood Tavern is probably the best new-to-Oakland spot. Haven't tried it for dinner, but reports are positive, and I've had some great lunches that show the chef knows his stuff. Great food, not too pricey, and they have a few pretty darn cheap items on the menu like the burger and the grains and greens.
Their Sunday hours recently changed, you should call and confirm that they are open (you will need a reservation, anyway).

re: lexdevil
Wood Tavern is loud, but I think that the noise can create a more intimate space for private conversation. I had dinner there with my husband Saturday night and we both loved it. As a previous poster stated, the food was very good (he had steak, I had the seafood stew and we split the pork belly confit app.) and the drinking options were great. Very reasonable for the quality and the area. But the best and rarest feature for me was that the service was absolutely wonderful. Thanks again to our server, Shannon, who was helpful, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The whole evening was a pleasure and we can't wait to go back.

re: Morton the Mousse
I had an excellent dinner at Wood Tavern a few weeks ago, and the friend that I ate with went back, and said that it was great again. Such a great addition to the neighborhood! I just wish it hadn't gotten that great review. If they are indeed open now on Sunday nights, I'd suggest just showing up on the early side instead of trying to get a reservation -- I showed up there without a reservation for dinner, and only had to wait about 20 minutes (on a weeknight, but Sunday nights aren't so busy).
