Birthday in San Diego...
I'm taking my boyfriend to San Diego (from south Orange County) for his birthday. I was planning on going to The Shout House for some entertainment since it was recommended by friends as a total blast. I took a look at their online menu... doesn't look too special for dinner, maybe just drinks.
Any locals know of a good/fun place to eat near The Shout House? I'm not looking for fine dining (he's a meat and potatoes kind of guy) but something fun.

Fleming's Steakhouse is in the vicinity. Upscale steakhouse with lively vibe and good food. Oceanaire if your meat and potatoes kind of guy is into seafood and potatoes. They have a hash browns that are to die for!
Cafe Chloe is excellent but a different vibe than Fleming's and Oceanaire. French bistro style food, cheese and bread plates, excellent pomme frites w/ dipping sauces.

The Mr. Tiki Mai Tai Lounge is only a couple blocks away, there's something for everyone there.

Ooh, that looks fun. I think I'll give it a whirl. I'm not sure if I want to go there for me or him... but we'll have fun. :)

You are close to Cafe Chloe which is a nice restaurant for a birthday dinner. I wouldn't call it a fun place but a nice relaxed place which is not too upscale. And their steak & frites is really good.
