meat grinder recommendations?

Currently sometimes chop meat in Cuisinart; considering getting a grinder for finer and/or more even consistency - expecting it also to be handy in canning season (e.g.chili sauce) & for chopping meat w chicken bones for BARF for next puppy.

Can get Waring 100 for Can$100, or Waring 800 for Can $150.

Any recommendations/comments/ other brand(s) to consider?

TIA

  1. If you have any need for a kitchen aid stand mixer for any other purpose, I'd highly recommend getting one with the grinder attachment. I've used mine with great success.

I would second that recommendation. I too have a KitchenAid mixer and have the grinding attachment. Does a great job with meat. And, with the two different dies you can grind fine or coarse. Love the coarse grind for chili.

        Me third on the KA

    2. I've done both and the Kitchen Aid beats the Cuisinart hands down. The Cuisinart gives you something not always evenly chopped unless you turn it into cat food by over processing, while the Kitchen Aid gives you perfectly ground meat in two grinds. You can even grind the course grind twice -- which is what I do when I want a smooth consistency.

      1. I have a Tasin TS-108. Like the one on this ebay ad. My brother and I each got one off ebay. Forgot the seller. Around $90. A lot of people like the Tasin for making cat and dog food. I just use it for grinding my own meat for burgers and sausage.
