Houston: Good Chow Near Four Seasons?

Dallas Alice Jun 11, 2007 08:12 PM

I'm going to Houston for a quick trip and staying at the Four Seasons. Last time I ate at the hotel, I was not wowed. Anything real good nearby?

Gracias in advance.

I was reading a recent review in the chronicle about the Four Season's restaurant - Quattro. The chef has changed and apparently the food now is pretty good though no one in town seems to know about this place exists any longer. Another good restaurant downtown that I haven't been to in a while is Artista (owned by Michael Cordua of Americas/Churrascos): http://www.cordua.com/cordua.cfm?a=cm.... Interesting deconstructed menu.

If I were you though, I would head to midtown (a fairly inexpensive cab ride) and check out t'afia -- a great menu with a local driven menu and plenty of texas wines (somewhat similar to York Street but I think I found it to be better). Also, there a plenty of excellent Vietnamese restaurants in Midtown that certainly won't find (outside of Bistro B) in Dallas.

There's a very good Indian place called Yatra, about 7 blocks away at 706 Main St.

I really like Indika for Indian at Westheimer, just east of Montrose. www.indikausa.com
