Stagecoach Tavern & John Andrews back-to-back dinners

  • 1

hi all

our good friends from CA were in town last week and thursday night the 4 of us went to stagecoach together and friday night i sent the 2 of them alone to JA.

stagecoach tavern is in sheffield, mass. i have eaten there once before since they changed owners about a month and 1/2 ago and i REALLY enjoyed it. this time, not so much. our server was young and slow. there were several "experienced" servers there that helped us WAY more than our own. some of the food was really good, some of it wasnt at all. risotto balls app: TASTY. filled with fontina & basil. i forget the exact description of the salad i ordered, but its the same salad i had the first time there and it had LOTS of things in it and this one didnt come close. my husband got a cheese plate with some of the TASTIEST bleu cheese ive ever eaten. it came with some sort of berry chutney and the 2 together was HEAVEN. so 2 out of 3 really good. dinners: last time i got the hanger steak which was excellent, dont know why i didnt get it this time, but i got the rigatoni with parmesan, ricotta, and sweet peas. i really didnt like it at all. my friend got the steak and loved it, my husband got fish & chips and loved it, and our other friend also got the rigatoni and didnt say much. after, we asked for dessert and she named off 3 and that was it and then i asked if they had ice cream ( for the choc. cake ) and she said yes so i got the choc. cake with ice cream and we all shared it but it was nothing to write home about.

next time i go there...i will sit at the bar and get the cheese plate and the risotto balls and a glass of wine!!!!

john andrews friday night: no, i dont work there. hahahhaha i talk about this place all the time because i love it so much but i dont want people think i have any ties to it because i dont, i just love it and crave that damn mozz salad and gnocchi on a daily basis :)
anyway, my firends went and they LOVED it. they split the prosciutto-mozz salad ( i told them to order 2 hunks of it ) for an app and they loved it. for dinner they had the gnocchi with parmesan, prosciutto, and spinach and also the pan seared tuna. they loved both of them. dessert was carmelized pear and homemade ice cream of espresso, honey, and banana choc. chip- both desserts they LOVED. so of course, very very very happy people after JA.

this saturday i am going to pastorale in lakeville, CT for fathers day dinner. i have been there 2 times before and loved it, i shall report back.

  1. Thanks for these details, I look forward to trying both, especially John Andrews. I am assuming it is crowded, so will go early. Thanks, Niccole.
