Turkish food in Boston (preferably North of Boston, actually)

Is there a good place to get Turkish food around here? I used to live in NYC and there was the best place nearby. I miss it and am looking for something similar. Thanks.

Been to Beyooglu and it really is great. If you are looking for really good Doner in NY, you should check out Yatagan on Mercer St or Bereket on Houston LES

How far north of Boston is Yatagan?

What was the place in NYC? (Partly self-serving, for my next trip to NYC ...)

I would chime in on Brookline Family Restaurant http://brooklinefamilyrestaurant.com/... Place looks like a dive, but don't let that fool you. Steer clear of the diner fare and get the adana kebaps, the mousaka, the imam bayildi, the lamb kebaps, and a nice glass of raki to wash it all down. Oh, and save room for turkish coffee and the best baklava in town. Or kunefe (shredded wheat with white cheese and honey -- yummers).

Boston Kebab House is a pretty good lunch place with quite serviceable food. I gather Sultan's Kitchen is very good but I haven't set foot yet. I think if I was working downtown, I'd go to those places. If I was making a special trip, I'd go to Brookline.

Though I guess I now have a trip to Nashua to plan ...

The restaurant in NYC is called Beyoglu. Their meze are just awesome--I'd recommend making a meal of them. It is on the upper east side around 81st and 3rd ave. Very reasonably priced and a nice atmosphere too.

Also in downtown Boston (Liberty Sq) is the Boston Kebab House owned by Turks. They are open for lunch during the week and lunch and dinner on Saturday. The meze bar is terrific serving lots of cold, olive oil based appetizers. Also great doner and izmir kofte kebabs.

Not north of Boston, but Sultan's Kitchen in the Financial District of Boston is excellent.

I agree about Family Restaurant in Brookline, too.

            Hi Marc,
You really need to get up to Seven Hills sometime this Summer. They've got a deck overlooking the Nashua River and the food & the owners really are first-rate.

I'd love to try Seven Hills. Maybe I can head up for a Nashua Pride game with my S.O. to catch some baseball, then head over for dinner there. Their menu looks great! I usually avoid places that post pictures of the food on the menu, but I'm willing to make an exception here! ;-b

We like the Family Turkish Restaurant in Brookline Village (Adana Kebab and Sultan's Delight, braised lamb with eggplant puree). Across the street is the Omelettry Cafe which i'm told by Turkish friends is even better though we haven;t tried it yet.

Did the Omelettry change its menu drastically? I thought it was a sandwich & omelet place with some Mexican breakfast specialties like migas.

It is now Rizelli Café and has a Turkish menu.

cosign! haven't had a bad meal at Family Restaurant - looks plasticky, but the food is well-prepared, and portions are good. Wait staff is great too.
