Hi - I just heard about this tour and really want to get some tickets... Can anyone tell me more about it?

- How often does he do the tour?
- How to get tickets? Tips on getting them on Ticketmaster

Thank you!

  1. He does the tour, "Come Hungry," once a year as part of the annual New Yorker Festival, which will be held October 5-7 this year. (The tour always is on Sunday, so it will be on October 7.) This probably is the most difficult ticket to get of the entire festival. Log on to http://festival.newyorker.com/ and register for email updates so that you'll be informed when tickets go on sale. When they do, you must be at your computer on ticketmaster at the precise moment they go on sale and keep trying. With fast fingers, you might get them.

    1. I went once, a few years back, when I was new to New York. I thought it was a lot of fun, and a great way for me to get the lay of the land. You'll sample food as you go along, and at the end of the one I was on, a meal in Chinatown. I wasn't overwhelmed by the choice of restaurants, or the food, but it was still fun.

The principal reason to do the tour, IMHO, is the opportunity to spend a few hours walking around lower Manhattan with Calvin Trillin. If you're just doing it for the food, there are lot's of us to tell you where to go on your own. But it's not gonna be the same.

          You're right, on all counts.

Does anyone know where he goes?

This is the article that got me thinking:

That's very similar, but not identical, to the tour I did with him. Mine did not include the pizza or the banh mi, but did include sesame pancake with beef from the Dumpling House on Eldridge.

        2. If you do manage to get them, consider yourself extremely lucky.

Myself and some friends have been trying for the last few years -- never any luck.

          1. Thanks for the responses! One more question, if you do manage to get through, how many tickets can you get?

I don't remember precisely. Keep in mind, however, that the more you request the less likely you'll be successful.

IIRC, it was limited to 2 per person on Ticketmaster.

                  Great thanks!
