Does anyone else love Rokerij? PHX

I especially love their tenderloin toasts appetizer. Yummm....rare tenderloin on toist points with melty brie. I also like how they have Chimay on draft (but it's dangerous) and the bar in general. I did a search and couldn't find anything written on this restaurant on this site. It's at 16th St and Bethany Home (I think) in Phoenix. I've been craving it for weeks....

  1. Must have spelled it wrong when I searched the first time. There are, indeed, a few raves about this restaurant.

I love it... Richardson's on steroids.

Love to dine in the bar......It's great!!!

I'm a huge fan, love the basement. Now that smoking is banned, I'll love it even more!! :)

The bartenders are sooo wonderful in my experience. Upstairs, downstairs, I love it.

    2. I'll second these sentiments. Good food, yet to have a bad meal. Great atmosphere-- upscale without any fuss, dark and low-key. And the cellar bar is fantastic, great place for happy hour.

Do they have a website yet? I still haven't found an active one.

The richardsonsofnewmexico.com domain is registered until July 2010, but, there hasn't been a web server listening, there, for quite some time.

The website is a three-for-one: Richardson's, Dick's Hideaway and Rokerij. Go to

        2. I love Rokerij too! I remember when that spot was Timothy's jazz and Richardson plowed it and started anew. I'm so glad he did. Rokerij makes me want cold, blustery winter nights to slip into the basement and have a drink and dinner.

It's 16th and just a tad north of Maryland on the east side of the street.

Love it. I love the Schreiner's sausages and white beans app.

We just don't seem to make it over as much anymore. Did I hear Chimay on draft?? ohhhh.

            1. re: geg5150

Ahem* if I may.... south of maryland.

              1. re: AZBconcierge

You may. See, I moved 3 months ago and already I don't know my directions. If you go a tad north of Maryland, that'll be one of my friend's homes. She'd serve you, but it wouldn't be as good as the Rokerij (or as pricey!).

                Thanks!

            2. I'm going to have to return to this place and see what it is really like - my SO and I decided to be optimistic and not let the construction detract from our visit while they were remodeling upstairs...bad idea. For the money we spent (with $60 wine), even in transition, I expected better service and a higher level of professionalism. The food was mediocre and forgettable; I was assuming the chef wasn't crowded in the basement like we were. Again, probably not fair to judge Rokerij like this, so just sharing my experience.

              1. add me to the list of 'love it's'..i prefer the cellar, and the half-price plus a dollar entree's after 10 pm is pretty great too :)

They quit that half price after 10pm deal -- We found out the hard way!
I think we went on a Friday about three months ago.

                  1. re: TnAz

ouch!! thanks for the heads up!! i haven't been there in about 3-4 months so the timing sounds about right ;)

                2. One of my favorite spots in Phoenix. The basement rocks and it is very romantic without trying to be. Reservations are a must most of the time.

                  1. fantastic. Period. Good atmosphere, great food, and prices are not too bad.

                    Definitely try the carne adovada.
