Moscato in Scarsdale

JohnG Jun 9, 2007 05:55 PM

I'm looking at going to Moscato for dinner. I don't know much about it and can't seem to find much newer info. about it.
Can anybody offer any insight; the menu, ambiance...etc. or possibly an alternative?
Looking at a Saturday night for 4.
Thanks for all your help.
john.

I lived a block down from Moscato for years and went several times - just not worth it. I really tried to give it a couple of chances because it was so convenient.
You could try Eastchester Fish Market (they have a restaurant) or American Bistro in Crestwood which I am a big fan of.
If you want an AMAZING experience, try Nanase in White Plains on Mamaroneck Avenue. The atmosphere is nothing special, but it is by far the best sushi I have ever had. It's not just a meal, but an experience. You have to make a reservation as they don't take walk-ins. He only orders enough food for the reservations they have that evening. If you really want to splurge, order the chef's dinner when you make the res and get ready for some fun! It's not exactly cheap, but def. worth it.

I agree about Moscato. The place is pretty, the food is fine. But nothing special, in my opinion.

I also agree that Nanase has great sushi. It's my favorite place in the area. My reservations about recommending that place for a Saturday night for 4 is that unless all four of the people are real sushi eaters, the menu is limited and the place is of limited visual appeal. So any non-sushi-lover in the group is bound to be disappointed.

I also agree. Moscato is just not worth it. If you are looking for Italianm Lusiardi's in Larchmont is WAY better (despite the fact that I think they also own Moscato). Rosie's Italian Bistro iin Bronxville is also good.

Thanks for the info everybody. It looks like either Rosie's or Buffet de la Gare at this point.
          Happy Eating!!
