Best Cheese Selection - Picholine Alternative ??

I've got a great Cabernet that I want to enjoy with a cheese plate and maybe some carpaccio ..... It might make sense to go to a steak house ... but unless someone tells me otherwise ... I'm favoring a restaurant that has a top notch cheese plate:

I've never been to Picholine ... their dinners are prix fixe, but they told me I could have the fromage and appetizers served a cafe table ... $50 corkage, tho.

Artisinal ? Can I get them to put something special together ( $20 corkage )

4 Seasons ??? Their cheese plate must be special

Montrachet ??? No corkage fee on Monday nites .... Any cheese conoseiurs have a recommendation on their selection ???

Craft is a possibilitiy, too ... no ???

Looking forward to some stimulating discussion here.

Thanks,

Steve

We had a lovely cheese plate at Gramercy Tavern recently - some interesting selections - don't know what their corkage fee is.

I had the cheese plate at 4 Seasons recently- very good, get it if you're going anyway, but don't go just for that. Veritas has very nice cheese (and excellent food, plus it's really a wine haven- don't know about corkage though), and so does Blue Hill (they do an especially nice job with the condiments).

I haven't been there is a while, but AOC Bedford used to have certain nights without corkage fees (something like Sunday and Monday) and they had a very nice cheese cart.
