seattle/orcas island
I am headed to Seattle for a few days, July 17th through the 24th i am sure i can read these boards and find alot on here, but i am mostly interested in opinions on Orcas island and oysters, even anywhere around san juan's islands where i'll be staying for 4 days.

I stayed up on Orcas last fall, and reported back here: www.chowhound.com/topics/335947
My favorite was Olga's but, alas, someone from the chamber of commerce replied on the thread and said that it has closed.›2 Replies-

re: Emily Hope
Strange. I was just in Olga and the cafe was there, though the menu did seem a little more upscale, as you said, though I didn't think about that until now. The gift store was there, too. Perhaps it's all under new management? Nothing really seemed that different to us, honestly. (cross posted in the thread you mentioned above)

We visited Orcas Island a couple of months ago and stayed at The Inn at Ship Bay. The restaurant featured a nice variety of expertly prepared organic products gathered from the surrounding islands and waters. Our room was quiet, very comfortable and featured a patio looking out over the bay. The staff discreetly went about doing their jobs making us feel like it was our home and they were just there to ensure we had a splendid weekend, which we did.

On Orcas, the Inn at Ship Bay has stunning food, and if you sit by the window you'll see them picking fresh herbs, flowers, and vegetables for your dinner plate. Olga's is a great little cafe with wonderful breakfast and lunch food. Sometimes it's slow, since it's a one-guy kitchen, but it's delicious and has a great homey funkiness.
