Has anyone been to Pongusri in Times Sq. recently? Is there any better options for Thai in that area?

Not actually Times Square - 48th St. and 8th Ave. I was there last Saturday and had another great lunch. The place is rock solid - it's no Sripraphai but hten again, what other place is? The ambiance is a couple of cuts above the hole in the wall Thai places in that area and as a result it sometimes gets marked down by people who associate tackiness with authenticity. Don't believe it - I've gone 15 or 20 times and always had very good meals.

Many times. Good solid food. Theater district location has better ambience than the one in Chinatown I usually go to. A bit Westernized (especially if you have been to Thailand). Moderately priced. Close to theater.

I haven't been there recently but always used to find that if I asked for my food to be made very spicy, they did it for me. I also always liked their salads a lot.

Thanks, Pan. Love the whole fish with chili.

In NYC it is always a good idea to make reservations . . .

I really like Pam Real Thai (two locations on 9th Ave, @ 47th and 49th St). As cheap and good as Ponsgri and the atmosphere is a bit better (not the same pre theater crush).
