What is that Vietnamese Green Drink?

I usually get it when I'm in Oakland Chinatown and in Chinese it's called Ben Da Wan or in Cantonese Bung Dai Woon. It has a grassy taste to it but very refreshing. I always wondered what plant it is made from. Does anyone know?

not sure what you're talking about. Is it grass jelly drink?

Nope, it's not grass jelly. It smells like fresh cut grass. I thought it was really made out of grass, but my mom said it's not.

only thing I could find on "Ben Da Wan" in English is that it is made with herbs and apparently good for sore throats. Now to go serach the other name...

Nada on the other...where do you get this mystery drink exactly?

I believe that Vietnamese drink is called Rau Ma from the pennywort plant.

          Perhaps something flavored with pandan?

Described as a neon green liquid consisting of mashed pandan (an aromatic plant that grows in the Philippines and Thailand). It had a sweet, herb-y flavor.
