Anyone been to "chili thai" ?
It is located on 9th avenue across from westside sushi. i got a kao soy last time and found it to be tasty. They didn't overcook the chicken like most thai places do and the curry soup tasted pretty good. As for authenticity, i haven't got a clue.
Yea - I have actually been here. I didn't have the kao soi though but I mean at least they have it on the menu right? Most places around there don't. When my friends and I went we had mostly the small plates and the pad sa eew which was sooooo good. I like the place though, it's nice and small and homey. Next time we go back I'll get the kao soi and let you know. When you go back you should def try the homemade curry puffs and the kanom jeen (like a thai shumai) mmmhhh sooo yummy!

A jaded Hell's Kitchenite, I welcome dime-a-dozen 9th Ave Thai openings like denizens of other 'hoods might embrace Duane Reades and North Fork Banks. Then I grabbed Chili's flawless Kao Soy ($6.95) on your recommendation. Thanks for the heads up!
I also scarfed the mango and sticky rice dessert ($5.00) which was uncloyingly sweet and tasty. I am hesitatant to stray from Pam's Pad See Ew, so on my next visit I'll sample some of the Latin American fusion plates, bring my own Singha, and report back.
I chatted with the owner for a while, a nice lady with extensive knowledge of the NYC Thai scene (and some Sripraphai connections) named Moobi (sp?). She helped drive home the place's homey mom-n-pop vibe. While the jury's still out pending additional visits, early signs point to an actual worthwhile new Thai shop in HK.
