Private dining room in NYC

to host birthday party for 80-year old. 35 guests--many senior--need good food in elegant surroundings without being exorbitant. appreciate reccos

      Any particular cuisine preference? Also, since people's opinion of what "without being exhorbitant" means, it would be helpful to have a per person budget and tell us if that figure includes alcoholic beverages, tax and tip.

        Cuisine: Italian, French, American. Per person: trying to keep it within $150 pp range, all included.

          For some reason, all of the places that are coming to mind involve stairs, which may be a problem for the elderly in your party, but here goes:

          Il Buco has a CHARMING private cellar. I think it holds about 30. Olive's has a private room upstairs, or so I've heard, but I've never actually seen it. Devi has a separate upstairs that you may be able to take over but I don't know if you'd be willing to consider Indian.
