Are you making a specialty food?

Los Amigos in Astoria? (31st St. btw. Ditmars and 23rd Ave.).

I have long been curious about this restuarant, for two reasons; 1) it is by far the closest Mexican restaurant to my house; I typically have to go all the way down to the Broadway area for good Mexican food; 2) I really like how the awning depicts a "friendly" handshake. Has anyone eaten at "Los Amigos," and if so, is anything in particular recommended?

I haven't eaten there myself, but I've only heard mediocre things about it. I would imagine it's better than Fresca Tortilla, though.

Went there Friday night for the first time. Decent food. Good signs- fresh chips, decent salsa, good chicken soup, friendly/laid back/clean. I'd say above average for NYC Mexican- not great but better than average.
