Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle recipes
Hello everyone--
I'm only half way through this book and although I'm resisting the urge to run out and go live on a farm, I've started my urban kitchen garden with gusto (3 kinds of tomatoes and a tomatillo plant!)...anyway, the recipes in the book are mouthwatering (web site too: http://animalvegetablemiracle.com/Rec...). Anyone try them out yet?
Maybe we could post our results here, like with the monthly cookbook?
Happy gardening and cooking!

Hi MaineRed, I am glad to see your post!
Well, I have read the book, and truly enjoyed it. My DH gave me the book as a 20th anniversary present!. Unfortunately, DH and kids have no interest in farming or even our backyard city garden, so I will have to continue fantasizing.I was thinking about posting about this book on the boards somewhere. More about the politics of eating locally.
The book spurred me to go to our Weds. farmer's market the past 2 weeks--a bit out of the way, and I have to leave work early. I am enjoying the fresh spinach, lettuces, spring onions, new potatoes, pea tips, sunflower and radish sprouts, bok choy, and eggs from happy chickens. I just missed buying the first tomatoes, Zebra and Bulgarian pink, yesterday.
I posted a question about kale last week and received over 25 responses!
I like your idea of using the book on this thread. Sign me up! I will start cooking tonight.

The Kingsolver book is being discussed on the Food Media & News board, here: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/398675
Cooking from the book and discussion of recipes, is fine right here on Home Cooking.
