Corndogs in Financial District?

Anyone have any recommendations for corn dogs in the financial district? I have a corndog craving...

Trader Joes might still have vegetarian corndogs if you ever want to go that route. Now I gotta try 'em.

Cowgirl in the V. Village has them.

Sometimes when they have the street fairs the vendors have corn dogs. I'm not sure, but Nathan's at the Seaport may have them also.

What a funny conversation! 20 years ago I frequently temped in between tours and had many gigs at WTC. We used to go to a pizza place, maybe on Greenwich south of Liberty??? Up front was average slices, Tower Isle beef patties, and corn dogs! I'd get one of each, go thru the swinging doors, and accompany the greasy chow with beers at the bar!

Maybe you should peak into a couple pizza places, see what's next to the congealing Stromboli's and calzones.

Does Nathan's really have corndogs??? I guess I never noticed.

Not sure what Nathan's offers as far as full-sized corndogs, but their "hot dog nuggets" are bite-sized corn dogs and kinda awesome.

Someone else had a craving for a corn dog in March and had better luck with their responses: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/384513

            Good luck!

Enigma, I think you're stuck until one of the street fairs comes to the area - I think the next one is around July 4th. There used to be an Arthur Treachers across from Liberty Plaza but I think it has since closed.

The corndog is not really a very popular - or available - item in NYC. As evidenced above, some folks here don't even know what one is (hot dog, covered in corn batter, deep fried, served on a stick), which certainly wouldn't be true back in my native Midwest. I think wingman is right - if you really have a craving you should seek out a street fair (there's sure to be one somewhere in Manhattan every summer weekend) and hunt down a carny cart selling corn dogs.

Living in Battery Park and being an occasional corn-dog craver myself, I have to tell you that you are out of luck as this point in time. I can't even think of anywhere in Manhattan, except the street fairs as mentioned above, that has them. The last time I wanted one, it required a bike ride to Nathan's on Coney - which made it (or them, actually) taste that much better.

Growing up, we always called corn dogs hot-dogs-on-a-stick.

I think there's a really cheap hot dog near Century 21. Maybe even with a soda. Not sure if it's good, I don't eat red meat (aren't hot dogs mystery meat?). There must be street carts near Wall Street with them.

                  A hot dog isn't a corndog.

Thanks for educating me, wingman. The link led me to believe they were.
