I'm looking for a fun lunch box for my preschooler. I use a Vive bento style lunch container for his lunches (the 490ml size) so I'd prefer something with a wider base so the Vive can lie flat and not have to be turned sideways. The lunch box he currently has is taller than wider, so I have to put the bento in vertically. I'd seen a couple boxes/sacks but they are boring looking! I'm hoping to find something a bit more fun, but not cartoon character fun. A fun print, or something is what I'm picturing.

This is what my Vive looks like, at the bottom left of the picture (this is someone else's pic). It has a clear lid with a steam vent for hot foods.

Try the Archie McPhee website. They have space, cowboy and pirate themed lunchboxes. (As well as some things not appropriate for preschoolers!) The domed lunchboxes might be wide enough for the container to lie flat, though I kind of doubt it. They used to have one with travel stickers that my son loved, but I don't see it now.

You don't say the size of the Vive container you referred to, but what about the old domed-type black boxes that construction workers used to carry their thermos and sandwich in? A fun outer space one is shown at this link:

Also - you might want to go to Amazon and put "dome lunch box" in the search box. That comes up with lots.

There are some fun lunchboxes on this site, some made with recycled juice boxes. Not sure if any have the dimensions you need.

My daughter's bento box fits into the LL Bean lunchboxes but it is turned sideways when she holds it.

lunchboxes.com has some fun ones that aren't cartoons (though most are licensed products).
