any wedding anniversary dinner suggestions?

For a decent dinner around $100 for two? Just “regular” food, or maybe Japanese?

  1. I haven't tried it, but there is a new-ish Japanese place on Lombard called Hime that has had several good write-ups. I think you would get many more suggestions if you give us a bit more info - does the price range you suggest include wine? Do you want to be in SF or somewhere else? What kind of food do you like - do you want to try - do you not eat. Does "regular food" mean not ethnic food? The more info you give, the more helpful the suggestions will be. Assuming your price range does not include wine, check out the websites and comments about both Isa in the Marina and Aziza in the outer Richmond.

I've been to Hime. AVOID IT. Terrible food, terrible service. I do agree with Isa. If you're looking for a romantic, fancier Japanese restaurant, try Ozumo or Sushi Ran in Sausalito.

Oh dear, that is good to know, I'll strike it from my list! Thanks for the tip

I get a little too much of the ex-frat boy/ yuppie vibe from Ozumo. Sushi Ran on the other hand is a great, elegant, romantic option. What better spot for an anniversary than sausalito. I've been twice and really enjoyed it. It will probably eclipse $100 with alcohol, but it's worth the splurge if you can afford it.

Agreed - Ozumo doesn't feel like a special occasion spot to me.

I'll third that about Ozumo. While the sushi is pretty good, the ambiance tends toward a clubby lounge. It's great to impress a date or for a night out on the town, but I wouldn't celebrate any special occasions there.

      2. including wine? tax and tip? in what neighborhood?

Can't think of any Japanese that's under $100, or nice enough for a anniversary dinner.

Maybe Antica Trattoria for Italian? Or Kokkarki for Greek. Or Baker Street Bistro for a very authentic French dinner.

        1. If you order carefully, Koo in the Inner Sunset is a nice Japanese place and you'd be able to eat well. If you wanted drinks (wine or sake) I'd be skeptical about $100...but sans drinks, you'd do very well for that amount, including tip.

We've had a couple of great anniversaries at Firefly.

          2. My husband and I just went to Sociale for our anniversary. It was perfect. If you go, call and make a reservation for an outdoor table. Their heaters should keep you warm enough, but bring a shawl.

            1. You might want to look at some early bird or late specials. Chapeau in the outer Richmond has an early bird special before 6.30 pm - not on Fri/Sat though. If you want to maximize your value for money in the wine department Indigo has a special prix fixe including wine after 8 pm.
