After hearing rumors of this fabulous ice cream disappearing because of landlord issues, it seems Snack City has a new lease on life. I spoke to Alfredo last weekend and he says he will die there, or stay indefinitely. This is certainly good news to me and my family. If you haven't been to Snack City for tropical ice cream, you are missing one of Tampa's very best. It is my favorite kind of place, unvarnished by yuppiedom.

It sure doesn't look impressive. The food is cheap and decent. But the ice cream is special. Try the Coconut and chocolate milkshake. Favorite flavors: mango, ginger, guava, coco, cookies and cream, orange-pineapple, etc.

They're right near the intersection at Columbus and Armenia Avenue---
on Columbus...

I'm good friends with the family-- and on behalf of them I'll say thanks Andy, for the kind words...

I LOVE that Coconut Ice Cream!

He makes a killer Fried Rice if you ask him to...
A big ol' styro full, for like $4.00!
Delicious!

Alfredo can seem a bit cranky, but he's a nice guy. Funny, too. He probably won't remember me bny name, but I'm the guy always asking for Ginger ice cream. shame it never sells, as it is one of my very faves. I love it with sauteed apples or bananas. if he moved more product, he'd make it more often. same thing with his great rum raisin.

I also like the Cubana frita--- a small fried hamburger topped with onions and potato sticks.

Andy, someone had posted on the board awhile back about a place that serves homemade ice cream with Indian flavors (I think spiced with coriander and somethng else). Is this the place?

saffron and pistachio--- a flavor called Kesar Pista. I like it, tho it isn't very sweet. Alfredo thinks its fit only for dogs, but he makes it.
