Hi. I'm looking for a gastropub type place for a late lunch/early dinner for a group of 10 or so people. I was hoping it would be in Holborn or close by. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

  1. You could try The Perseverance on Lambs Conduit St

or The Seven Stars in Carey St

I have not eaten in either for a long time but they could fit the bill

    1. Searching for Holborn pub on the UK food blog search - http://tinyurl.com/2j8tox - brings up lots of bloggers' suggestions of good pubs to eat in.

      1. Will check out your reccs. Thanks.

        1. Certain I'm too late for you Fifi but I work in the area and can recommend the White Swan, on Fetter Lane. Owned by the same people who own the Gun out in the Docklands. Nice. The Seven Stars is fab _ the owner dresses her cats up and the bar staff is notoriously cranky _ but for a lunch or early dinner you're not going to have a lot of luck getting a table. It's right behind the Royal Courts and is jammed.
Anyway, hope you had/have a fab time.

How mobbed is the Seven Stars on Saturday evenings?

Not bad. It's not quiet, but it's much better than during the week, 'cause all the City types are back in Surrey. You can get in the door and probably find a table.
