Ocean City, MD - Ribs, Steak??

woodsylady Jun 6, 2007 05:02 AM

Going to Ocean City, MD the first week of October 2007. Can't eat seafood every night so we're looking for a great rib place and a nice place for steaks. Any recommendations?

I have had pretty good ribs at JR's as well as Nick Idoni's.

For Steaks go to The House of Welsh in Fenwick Island, DE just out of OC. It's an old Baltimore restaurant relocated there. Just wonderful.

Sorry, can't agree about the House of Welsh. We've eaten there when it was winter and the only thing open, but wouldn't go back regardless. The food is just not good quality, nor well prepared. There are many much better food choices in the area.

There is a new steak house in OC, whose name escapes me. Haven't been there, but I have heard good things about it.

Believe it or not, the best steak I ever had was a fillet marinated in balsamic vinegrette served in an Italian restaurant "Tutti Gusti", 3322 Coastal Highway, OC.

Seem to remember eating at a steak place called the Blue Ox (if I'm not mistaken). This was over a year ago and have no recollection of meal specifics so apparently I was less than enamored. What I do remember was a gentleman sitting at an adjacent table being served a cut of meat roughly the size of a canned ham. Perhaps quantity is this restaurants forte.

That's the one I was thinking of. I think it opened last year.

Nicks is the best place for ribs. For steak, I would go to Fager's Island. The "formal" opposed to lite fare dining room is always good; excellent service & food is amazing. I send everyone there and everyone is pleased. They are known for prime rib, but I always go for the fillet. The crab cakes are great too, I have never had a bad meal there.

The best ribs plus the best barbecue is Smokers, West Ocean City. Very
            informal...eat there or carry out.
