My husband works at LA Studios and is near Tatou. He went there for a lunch with coworkers a few weeks ago and he loved it.
He said everything was fresh and delicious and unexpected.

High praise from him, i saw the menu he brought home and it looked yummy. Can't wait to try it myself.

I work at LAUSD HQ and we're across the street from Tatou/Wokcano. The food is alright, but I tend to think it all had WAY too much sauce. We had orange chicken, kung pao shrimp, beef broccoli, black pepper mignon (my fave of the meal), walnut shrimp, and a tofu dish. Prices were a little higher than what I'd normally pay for Chinese (since I live IN chinatown), but normal for a downtown Chinese restaurant. They did have brown rice, which was nice, and the servers were very attentive. I would have killed for a lazy susan in the middle of the table, but we happened to go when they were setting up for a private event and had fold out chairs and tables. Another plus is they give a 15% discount to LAUSD employees :)

According to Eater LA, Michael Wray isn't even really involved as anything more than a peripheral consultant. Everything on the menu certainly was generic asian food, without any of the unusual flair I'd expect from a chef who won a nationally televised competition. Then again, the Hell's Kitchen winners seemingly haven't stepped into positions of leadership as easily as the show makes it seem.

I've also been to the club and it's very expensive. $20 cover and 2 vodka red bulls and a rum n coke was $28 before tip (!!).

I know that since my husband went to Tatou for his meal, the menu has changed and Chef Wray is much more involved now.

Maybe that will make a difference for the better.

Interesting. I was there last Friday and the menu certainly didn't seem anything special. Maybe it's going to take a little longer for Wray to really incorporate his changes into the menu. Hopefully what I ate wasn't his best. I'm sure my coworkers and I will be back sometime in the next few months or so.
