We had lunch at Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa today. Wow, what a fantastic experience! Pliney the Elder is the best beer I've ever had. The pizza was very good and the service was excellent. I recommend the place!

I can't agree enough that Russian River makes the best beers in the area (and gives Stone and Pizza Port a run for the title of the best in state/country). The Pliny the Elder is perhaps the best beer ever. I love how RRBC makes stellar CA-style (highly hopped) and great Belgian-style beers--fantastic combination. It's a great place and it's hard not to stop every time we're in the area (by the way, a growler of the Pliny will last a day or two just fine).

I love Pliny the Elder, too. I'm not sure where else but Barclays Pub in Rockridge has it on tap. FYI.

In SF, the Toronado has it on tap the majority of the time (along with its cousin Pliny the Younger).

I have to say that Pliny the Younger is not as good as the elder -- hoppier, yes, but lacks the nuance of the Elder. But if love the Elder, you have try the Younger at least once.
