time to celebrate - need steak house

I have a pretty big professional event next Friday and afterwards my wife wants me to pick a place that I would like for dinner to celebrate. I am always one for a good steakhouse. We've done Taylors, Ruth Chris, Flemming's, Delmonico's, Morton's, Charlie G's.

So where to next?

you need to add pacific dining car to your list. i would go to the original downtown. also, damon's in glendale is having a big anniversary special this month with a very cheap price on their best steak (or something like that). but DEFINiTELY check out pacific dining car.

What about Cut (Wolfgang Puck's place in Beverly Hills ), or Boa (Santa Monica) ?

Doubt you can get reservations at Cut at this point. Try Mastro's or maybe Dakota.

Mastro's for sure. Cut is tough.

I second JAR, it feels modern and retro at the same time, and the steaks were very good. Also, they have a really helpful and unpretentious sommelier. I enjoyed everything about it.

Besides really liking the food at JAR, which we always do, we had a very nice interaction with the sommelier two weeks ago. We hardly ever order a bottle of wine for the two of us, because we usually can't finish it plus as the years go by, I'm having worse and worse headaches from wine, especially reds (yes I know we can bring it home in the trunk, and we have). More and more we're sticking to cocktails. Anyway I picked out two or three bottles from the list to ask about, and the sommelier was really helpful. Besides discussing the wines I picked in a way that made sense to me, he also suggested another wine in the same price range without me hinting - he knew what price range we were looking at and stuck to it. We went with his suggestion and ended up drinking the whole bottle.

Mastro's is the best in BH for a special occasion. They have live music, dancing. Great wine list. Sit upstairs.

I also like Dakota (get the rib eye) at the Hollywood Roosevelt. I've tried Cut. It's kind of dark and the play rock music if you're into that.

We have reservations for Mastro's on the 15th. I'll report back
