Cast iron enameled pie plate

My friend back home in Michigan used to make dynamite apple pies and they always turned out much better when she used her mother's enameled pie plate. I'm not sure if it was cast iron or some other metal, anyone know of something like what I'm talking about.

I managed to get the recipe for the pies from her, but the crust isn't coming out nearly as good with the Pyrex glass pie plate she gave me.

That was probaably enameled steel, like old fashioned granite ware. Check old fashioned hardware stores, flea markets, thrift shops, garage sales and the like.
