Fun Food Snackery - my first visit
I have to start off by saying that it isn't the best location in Allston.
But I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the young owner venturing to the business that he believes in.
It is not a front store location. There is a door you have to push through before you get to its door. Inside the store, the decoration is simple but fun-filled.
It took me a while to figure out what to get. I settled with "the snow" which was highlighted in the board. It is a shave ice in a beautiful pastic cone topped with ice cream and a lot of fresh fruits. Including tax, it was $4.75. It was big enough to share. They offered us a matel rack to put the cone in so that two of us could eat it without the need of holding it. Very considerate.
Seeing the young owner cutting up the fresh fruits carefully by himself, we could feel how much he cared for his product. While we were having the shave ice, he asked us was there anythings that he could improve. I told him that it was very good especially the lychee ice cream.
There would be no doubt that it is a tough business. But I think everytime we pass by, we will show our support.
Try their lychee ice cream, you wouldn't disappoint.

re: galangatron
The shaved ice is similar to Bingsoo. It has the requisit shaved ice, also fruit, condensed milk syrup, fruit puree syrup, and a scoop of ice cream. It doesn't have the red beans that bingsoo has but you can get a scoop of azuki ice cream which is basically red bean ice cream (japanese version).
They occasionally have Vietnamese sandwiches, I think that's what banh mi is.
