California Roll N Sushi on Westwood Blvd. ?

On my way to Asuka last night, I popped into this place in a minimall near SM Boulevard. It looks kind of awful. Has anyone been? If so, how is it? How's the spicy tuna? Thanks. : )

its just ok. its a decent place for a lot of cheap so-so sushi. i go every so often to get their chirashi bowl. not bad, not great, but definitely filling.

I have to say, it's not terrible. The portions are large (I know, not #1 concern for a sushi place) and it's really cheap.

However, it is the kind of place where I would go for more simple rolls with lots of cooked and/or marinated ingredients rather than trying to focus on sashimi (California rolls, unagi rolls, spicy tuna). Their salmon is usually not bad, but the other fish varies.

Incidentally, they do serve the Italian fro-yo of the Pinkberry variety that is slowly saturating LA.

Your instincts are good. It's definitely not good. It's cheap, but that's the only good quality. Whole Foods and Gelson's have better quality sushi. To be fair, I only sampled the raw stuff once, and never returned for cooked fare.
