Anyone have any info when Burger Bar and/or Subway in Cedarhurst will be openning? Also, when either of them opens please post the event here at Chowhound.

My daughter informs me that Tea for Two will be openning here in the 5 towns, can anyone confirm of deny this info? I sure hope it is true, this way I don't have to shlep to Brooklyn to eat there, it is one of my daughter's favorite places to eat.

    Well Burger Bar opened today in Cedarhurst. Store was, as expected, mobbed. I ordered the Burger Salad - very tasty. My daughter ordered the Chicken Burger, and her words were "really really good". My wife ordered the Steak Salad - not bad at all (I couldn't help but help myself to some. Place had upstairs seating which really helped. All in all a good experience, should complement the next door Subway when it opens. Similar setup, you order the main component - burger, chicken, steak - when ready you tell them what salad you want and what dressing you want on it.

    Their posted hours are great S-W 11am-1am, Th 11am-2am, Sat 1hr after Shabbos-3am. Wow, for the five towns that is impressive. I wonder how long they can keep those hours.

    My thanks to the Hound poster that alerted me to its opening, don't quite know why the post was deleted though.

        I went today at about 4:30pm. The lines were long but well worth the wait. In order to maximize your burger bar enjoyment i will give you the instructions for ordering, as it gets very confusing.

        1. whem you walk in go straight to the register, where you order your food, and pay. only tell them the basics (burger, drink etc.) do not tell them toppings or sauces.

        2. keep your receipt, it has your order number on it.

        3. sit down, relax, enjoy yourself, wait for your number to be called.

        4. when your number is called, go to your "burger barista" and tell him what you want.

        5. eat and enjoy

        i got the burger with grilled onions, pickles, garlic mayo, chimichuri sauce, and sweet chili sauce.

        OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

        i strongly recomend getting garlic mayo, even if you dont like mayo (i dont like mayo at all) with another dressing, do not get all the sauces, it will not be good.

          Went back tonight, 11pm, raining cats and dogs with lightning all around. Had to wait 5 minutes in car to wait for the rain to let up a little. Place was busy! 11pm in a thunderstorm! Amazing considering they did not advertise about the grand oppening, just word of mouth. Anyway, I had the Burger Salad again, still tastes good!

              My wife and I went to Burger Bar in Cedarhurst. Unlike some other Chowhounders, we did not care for Burger Bar. It is basically a pricey fast food establishment. We assumed that the meat salads that other Chowhounders liked consisted of more than meat and ordinary salad. They consisted of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and .onions (plus the meat).

                Well, Chuck's son has gout, or something like that. Yes, the salads are just that (plus your choice of dressing, and an egg or a portobello mushroom if you like for a bit extra). But I keep going back for the chicken salad.

                Subway in Cedarhurst is now open! Went there tonight at 10pm just as they were closing . Picked up menu and will probably go there tomorrow night for dinner. Unlike the one in Brooklyn, here they offer a "Melt" option. I am glad that they are not "Maras Ayin" paranoid. A simple statement on the menu says that it is parve - enough said!

                As an aside, I went next door to Burger Bar - joint was hopping - families with todlers were there - at 11pm no less - amazing.

                    I will check tonight since I plan on going to them for dinner (crowd permitting). I noticed that Subway was much cheaper than Burger Bar ($12.50 for a large Burger salad, 2 burgers on a bed of salad), but since I came after closing I have not seen Subway's portion sizes. Since I am on Atkins I will be trying their salads. They also advertise that any sub can be converted to a salad for $1 more.

                    Here's a way you can test if this is a "true" Subway chain store or not...
                    try using this BOGO coupon, which you must print once to a good printer;

                    Please post back here if they accepted this coupon or not. expires 07/31

                        if their cash register is not part
                        of the Subway network, that bar
                        code won't work, then they are
                        NOT a true Subway restaurant.
                        to avoid questions, cut the 5x5"

                        so they can't disqualify it for
                        not being the original.

                          They are a true Subway. Go to www.subway.com, click on "Restaurant Locator", enter 11516 in zip code field, and you will get (among others

                          )

                      Went to Subway for dinner at 7:30pm. They were quite busy, had some glitches ex. ran out of Italian bread, and did not accept charge cards. I ordered a double stuffed foot long pastrami as a salad, wife ordered the double stuffed foot long steak as a salad and my daughter order a foot long turkey. No complaints here. My daughter was particularly pleased, was full after eating only half and now also has lunch for tomorrow. She particularly likes the bread; she says that it is nice and soft rather than the hard club that the local delis use for their cold cut sandwiches.

                      My key problem is not too much seating so I took everything to go. Will see what happens to both Burger Bar and Subway after a few weeks go by and the novelty passes. I think they will both survive, didn't know the 5 towns has an active evening fast food crowd. Normally the restaurants here are shutting down 9-9:30. I wonder if Subway will go beyond 10pm. The few times that I went to Burger Bar on the late side 11pm-1am found them busy. Haven’t been there a while since I was away in Israel the last two weeks.

                        IMO both places (Subway and Burger Bar) will do well because of their location on Central Avenue. As long as they offer good service, they will be patronized. It is all about location. They are centrally located (no pun intended) in an area that has a large population of kosher keeping consumers.
