I recommend the Inn at West View Farm in Dorset, VT:
http://www.innatwestviewfarm.com/inde...The food is excellent, whether in the main dining room (full menu) or in the tavern, where the menu is a selection of 10 Asian-influenced small plates. It's in a beautiful area, and there's a lot to do and many other good restaurants.

Forget Vermont--if you want to live free or die, come to New Hampshire! The White Mountains are beautiful, and in Jackson, The Inn at Thorn Hill has a great restaurant and an amazing wine cellar. http://www.innatthornhill.com/ My personal favorite is the Notchland Inn in Crawford Notch--they serve reasonable 5 course dinners and the place is elegant and casual. http://www.notchland.com/

re: greenstate
We love the Parker House Inn in Quechee- Kind of a French/European style Inn with amazing fresh food. The owner/host Adam couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I think he's british. The food is mostly french bistro with lots of vt fresh products. changes all the time too. Everytime we go we leave wondering why we don go more often. (mostly too tired to get out)
