Cooking classes in OC - non-newlywed

Looking for some cooking classes in OC, especially North OC. Hands on would be even better (many are hands off). I've been to Zov's and it really isn't my thing. Yves' has some but they are hands way off. Not looking for basic stuff, but rather, something at a higher skill set. Any suggestions?

Blackmarket Bakery in Irvine offers classes. Most are pastry related but there are some classes that focus on food

Thanks! That is just a hop and half of a skip down Jamboree from my home in Tustinland. Good call by you.

Agree -- their pasta class is worth going to.

Sur La Table (www.surlatable.com) in Newport Beach has terrific classes and a large selection as well. They have an online course catalog.

I'd second the Sur La Table cooking classes.
I've also heard good things about this one: http://www.lagunaculinaryarts.com/

It's a bit farther South, but A Store For Cooks (in Laguna Niguel) has been doing cooking classes for something like 30 years. www.astoreforcooks.com These are hands-off, however.

For hands-on..... I don't know if how available they are but years ago I took some that were given by the adult ed department of our South OC school district, using the High School's Home Ec Dept. kitchen classroom. Got me hooked on wok-fried catfish, among other things.
