Family, Kid-Friendly Restaurants

Hello, I'm new to Chowhound. Hoping that I can get advice on finding a great restaurant in the Westside - Santa Monica area. My family wants to plan a surprise bday dinner to celebrate our grandma's 79th. I'm very consciencious about cleaniness, service, decor and of course, it's all about the food!!! Since this is a celebration, it's about atmosphere! We are open to Mexican and Italian cuisine. It's for a party of 25 (which includes five children ranging from 3-11). Price points are from $15-$25 per plate. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. I suggest Tia Juana on Olympic. They make the tortillas by hand at a griddle in the entry way. That means the tortillas are fresh and good, and there's something for the kids to watch.

Tia Juana is a good suggestion, and they could probably set up their party up in the back room which would almost be like having a private room in some respects. Also Fritto Misto in Santa Monica for Italian is a possibility.

I was going to suggest Fritto Misto as well.

Might look into i Cugini as well.

        If you'll travel a bit south, C & O Trattoria is very kid/family friendly.

As one other option, but not Mexican or Italian, perhaps 26 Beach.
