The Ultimate Belgian Waffle (in Montreal)
Please help. I am looking for two things:
1) A restaurant that serves delicious Bruxelles-style waffles for brunch. And while I'm not opposed to a "montagne de fruits frais" atop my gauffre, I'd rather not go to Chez Cora, or most chain-type places.
2)The best non-industrial gauffres Liègoises in town. (I'm not even sure this exists here?)
Creperie du Marche at the Jean-Talon Market makes Belgian Waffles. They make the Liege & the other one which is less sweeter and retangular. Both are available always on weekends, & sometimes they're also available during the week. You might want to try their version.
I coincidetally just tried the waffles at the JTM creperie over this past weekend. Nothing special at all, first off they are pre-made and are just sitting out (uncovered). When you order one they just put it back in the waffle maker and heat it up. I don't understand why they don't make them on order from scratch, can't take more than 5 minutes (if that). I remember being in Belgium a few years ago and ordering waffles every day, now those were good!
