Recommendations near Ritz Carlton Tokyo

We are going to Japan for the first time and staying at the new Ritz Carlton in Ropponggi area. Would like to try authentic Japanese sushi, ramen, fusion, or anything we can't get (the same quality) in LA. Prefer to stay in vicinity of hotel if possible, but willing to travel if simple enough (taxi is ok) and not too many transfers on the subway. Any not to be missed meals? Please advise!!

  1. Since I encouraged you to move to the Ritz, let me make a couple of suggestions.

For ramen, go to Ichiran which is very close to the Roppongi crossing and 2 minutes from the hotel.

For an experience, go to Inakaya. It is a tourist place but the food is decent and the atmosphere is great if you haven't been to a robatayaki before.

For yakitori, go to Imaya which is 2 minutes away.

For beef, especially beef tongue, go to Tanya Matabee. Best beef tongue i have ever had.

For sushi, go to Sukiyabashi Jiro in Roppongi Hills.

For tempura, go to Mikawa in Roppongi Hills.

Now we're covered....many thanks! Beef tongue and ramen sound especially yummy:) Let's see how many meals we can have in 36 hours!

    2. Here are some recommendations in the Roppongi area.

I'd recommend Sasano for a good izakaya. Not sure if they have a English menu, though.
