Good anniversary bistro?

I am looking for a good bistro or small romantic-type restaurant to celebrate my second anniversary with my boyfriend this August. I'd love to find something in the South End or Back Bay. Price is not a huge concern, but probably nothing topping 35-dollar dishes. Any suggestions?

Pigalle is lovely. I went the year before last for anniversary and it went over very well.

Dali in Sommerville might be the most romantic restaurant in Boston, well its actually in Cambridge/ Sommerville, but I highly reccomend it for a date or anniversary.

I love Dali - and it is definitely romantic, but in a first date kind of way. The bar gets crowded by 7:00 p.m. and is LOUD! (which I like.) If you want a quiet celebration, you may want to look elsewhere.

I love it as well, but I agree - way too loud for "romantic" - even in the alcove seating. Perhaps EVOO across the street - much, much quieter.

Or Gargoyles in Davis Square...but again - not in the bar, as weekends can be very noisy in there as well.

If you haven't been to Icarus, I recommend you give it a try. They haven't been around this long without GOOD reason. Chris Douglas makes great food, and the ambiance has always been romantic.

Why not the best bistro in town? Hamersley's....not always quiet and romantic though....we have been there when it has been and also when it has been noisy....but the roast chicken is the best that can be had anywhere in town....
