I look at it like this. We like the horse racing.
To get into the races its usually $2 general admission.
Tickets to this are $10. So for $8, even if you just eat one sausage guy hot dog an ice cream and a drink, you got yourself a great deal. Plus it all goes to a great cause.

AND Kobayashi is going to be there!!! That's worth the price of admission alone.

As a major hotdog lover (unfortunately) and despite this being for a fantastic cause...my first and last experience there was terrible. I'd rather drive to Speeds and send in a check. You do have a good attitude about the place however and if you don't mind standing in line forever maybe you will have a good time!!!

we went several years ago at the end of the day. Noone was there to take our money and give us tix and we had to look all around for someone who would take our money! But we found the veggie dog stand and they were so happy to find veggie dog eaters that they tried to feed us zillions of veggie dogs. by late in the day most of the crowd was gone so it was fun but i have yet to venture there with full on crowds..

While I admire your enthusiasm, I can't say I share it. I almost talked myself into going to this (with reasoning much like yours) but my love of hot dogs isn't great enough to overcome my issues with lines, crowds, kids, etc... Also, I'm thinking that playing the ponies that day might similar to the going out drinking on St. Patty's day: an amateur hour nightmare. I hope I'm just being a Chicken Little and that you have a great experience... definitely report back.

I tried to reply, either it didnt go thru or they deleted it for some unknown reason (since they never do tell you). Anyway, we dont bet on the horses, just watch. And im sure the lines/crowds will be no worse then any other festival or event. The post from last year indicated it was no issue.

I've never been. But the Joey Fund is a great cause. The combo of great hot dogs, the ponies and a worthwhile charity sounds like winner to me.

I'll give you this....your going in with the right attitude. In addition to you liking horse racing, I hope you enjoy unorganized lines, and dodging baby strollers too.
My Hot Dog Safari days are well behind me, and I don't care to look back.
I'd be interested in reading your impression after.

They will allow camera's....pictures would be awesome. Make sure to take at least one picture of hot dog carnage.

I wanted to maybe take my nephew this year but it crept up on me and I don't want to comit my Sun. to it now. I agree with your view as long as it's not a total zoo to get at least one dog.
