  1. Chez Jay - but it's tiny and there's only 1, maybe 2, little TVs.

I second this rec -- I'm a huge fan of Chez Jay. Yes, they really only have one TV, but the food is good, the atmosphere is perfect, and the drinks are strong. What else do you need? I think all these places with a million TVs don't hold a candle to Chez Jay...

    2. i don't know if they will have basketball on - but i like the food at ye olde kings head - 2nd & santa monica. you can order from the restaurant menu in the bar area.

      1. The decent food is the hard part. On the Promenade there's Yankee Doodles and Barney's Beanery. Both are sports bars. Barney's food is better (because Yankee Doodles is barely edible) but not all that great. A bit more of a walk on 14th & Santa Monica is Over Under sports bar that makes as close to an authentic Cheese Steak as you're going to find in L.A. Now for a dive bar but a great L.A. experience, under the Santa Monica Pier right off the sand is Big Dean's. Awesome greasebomb burgers and great people watching while there are commercials on.

You could walk to Library Alehouse (or take a very cheap cab) on Main St. 2911 Main. I like the food and the beer list is good.

Chez Jay is a good choice though. Good steaks. But if you're really into the game might not be the right atmosphere.

        1. Is anyone really recommending Chez Jay for food?
I love Chez Jay, but would only eat there after some stiff drinks and wouldn't expect much.
Wish I had a recommendation but I find Basketball watching and decent food are mutually exclusive in SM. Barneys and Yankee Doodle's are good places for watching and beer though,

I disagree. I've had decent sand dabs at Chez Jay's. I've also had good breakfast foods there. It's a surprisingly good kitchen. Now, to be clear, I'm not saying that Chez Jay is turning out world class food, but I think it's a pretty decent option to consider.

Besides, the call was for decent food. Above average to excellent food and sports tend to be mutually exclusive.

          2. punch grill on wilshire. it's in the old royal star location
