Where can I find Italian Beef Sandwiches in or around Indianapolis?

OneJayneDoe May 31, 2007 01:34 PM

I'm sorry, but I crave Italian Beef Sandwiches. I can only have them once a year in person, and I usually have them shipped to wherever I am in Indy if I can't make the trip to Chicago.

This year I don't think that I'll be able to drive to Chicago to partake, but I'll be darned if I'm going to go without.

That being said, I'm wondering if there is a place in Indy where I can get an authentic Italian Beef Sandwich. If they also serve alcohol, that would be a plus.

Thanks again to my fellow 'hounds in Indiana. You always come through for me!

Check the Kroger frozen meat case. I think they have it packaged and ready to take home and warm up. Some Chicago is distributing it. I've not tried it yet so I cannot vouch for authencity or quality

Candy: Thanks for the suggestion, but for the first time in several years we won't have a kitchen - we're just bunking at the Marriott. I'm really looking for the real thing. I'll take a look at the store when we stock up on snacks.
      Thanks again!

Sweet Home Chicago in Brownsburg (of all places...) 680 E. 56th St., Brownsburg allegedly has Italian beef sandwiches and hot dogs. I haven't been there yet so I can't give you a review. I recently had my first (gasp!) Italian Beef at Portillos in Chicago and I'm absolutely hooked, so please let me know if Sweet Home Chicago can even hold a candle to what I had. also I'll be going back in August, so tell me if I should try Italian beef somewhere else!
