good margaritas under $10

violet42 May 31, 2007 01:03 PM

hey all,

looking for a place to go out tonight around 10pm-ish where my friends and I can drink quality margaritas that aren't too pricey (10 or under). A place where we can get some chips and apps but aren't obligated to order food would be perfect. any neighborhood.

both those places look good but they look very resturant-y... are these places where one can just grab some drinks at a table?

No--at the bar. Agave has a few lounge tables at the bar.

Ask for the Ultimate Marg at HK during happy hour ($6 5pm-7pm and 11pm-12:30am). They make a fantastic rita with quality ingredients. Also, Blue Owl makes a great one with fresh lime juice (hh 5-8 i believe) And a kind of random one, McCormick and Schmicks makes a great one with fresh lime juice and all the apps are $1.95 during happy hour (5-7).

Its totally cheesy, but my favorite margaritas in Manhattan are at Mo's Caribbean. If you can take the crowd, they really are good...and depending on what night you go it can be really cheap (I think $2 on Ladies Night, which if I remember right is Wednesday. Um, how can you beat $2 anything?)

But for the real thing, Los Lobos in Brooklyn is pretty good too.

El Azteca in Hell's Kitchen has great margaritas. It's a restaurant but they have a bar and generally won't harass you if you're not ordering too much food.

There is this place I went to all the time in Grad school - very college-y. They have happy huor from 5-7 and then again ;ater in the evening 11-1 I think. Anyway, they make the BEST margaritas. My favorite is the Peach. I aknowledge that some people may think they aren't real margaritas if they're fruity, but believe me, after only 1 I'd be toasted and 2 would have me drunk, but you can't taste the alcohol....
The Heights on Broadway between 111 and 112. They're on the 2nd floor above a deli and have rooftop dining too.
