Anyone tried Open the Sesame on the LES?

Planning on going tonight before a show at Mercury Lounge - anyone tried it yet? Thoughts?

i went the other night with friends and i had the shrimp pad thai, which was not good at all. the noodles were overcooked and greasy. however, my friend next to me got something off the special menu, which was sooo good. i don't remember what it was called, but the description listed it as their specialty and it was a beef noodle dish. i didn't try anyone else's, but no one else seemed as disappointed as me. but it's byo and pretty cheap, so might be worth giving a shot...seems to be hit or miss imo. please report back with what you thought.

It wasn't bad...I had the eggplant and fresh tofu special, my sister and friend had the glass noodle pad thai, they seemed to like it ok. Other friend had the BBQ pork loin, which was tasty, though he cut out a lot of fatty parts. I was disappointed that all of the tofu was fried...I found that kind of an easy excuse of a way to prepare tofu, and we weren't able to eat as healthily as we would have liked. Overall, I don't know that I'd go back, but if I was strapped for something, I wouldn't mind.

I wonder - maybe you could ask them not to fry the tofu? I do this all the time at Asian restaurants and so far none have refused. Unless, of course, it's a "stuffed tofu pouch" dish, which means it has to be fried.
