Another oyster deal
According to Daily Candy:
Dante is shucking tasty bivalves on the cheap to celebrate
its first birthday. They've also got the late-night grill going
all summer long.
June 1-June 30.
There were five of and we had so much fun, great to be outside on a warm night. This was the first anniversary party, and kick-off to the grilling, and they really did it up well, serving from 10:00 to 2 a.m. It was open to the public (you just had to RSVP earlier), and the food was great. But because all the food was complimentary (as well as some cocktails - vodka drinks, a passion fruit-ginger beer punch, beer.. though it was a full bar and you just paid for anything else - I stuck to EK's Negronis), I'm not sure what the set-up is for the rest of the summer. But we'll definitely be back, and the food was excellent. I might have missed some, but they were serving frozen watermelon, bourbon granita, arancini with truffle honey, juicy burgers, ribs, a skewer (missed this one), and my favorite of the night - smoked blue fish and tapenade wrapped in grape leaves. For the party they had a cool percussionist and DJ inside as the patio was where they were grilling. It was a great night to be outside along the river. They also have a smaller bar outside. And the service - we were all commenting on how friendly and nice everyone was. They really know how to throw an event here. No one seemed frazzled by the crowd at all though those poor guys manning the grill looked hot on a humid night. I'm a fan of Dante anyways, but this late-night grillin' is a great idea. Hopefully a couple of the other 'hounds who were there will chime in. Be sure to report back if you go!
What a fun night! I look forward to going back, it was a party vibe and I was really surprised with how delicious the food was, especially for free stuff.
I especially loved that bluefish w/tapenade in grape leaves. And I was really impressed with how Rubee immediately picked up on the truffle honey on the arancini. Once identified it was unmistakable, and heavenly.
They also had corn on the cob which was buttery and also sweet & spicy at the same time. And we got a few of the foie gras cubes hot off the grill; Alcachofa said they'd have been great on the burger ala KO's, and they would've been but we ate everything too fast to facilitate such tactical combinations.
