Anyone know anything about this breakfast and lunch place in Clayton, MO? I've seen their artisan breads around town and in various restaurants but have never been to the "Bakehouse."
My husband and I went for a weekday breakfast recently. It was mobbed. The bread was very good, we both got it toasted. It would have been better if something other than little square packs of Smucker's jams and foil wrapped butter pats were served with it. The menu is rather limited. There was an egg casserole type thing, but no other breakfast entree items. We got fresh fruit, which was expensive, but good. The coffee was good. It was so crowded it was difficult to move through the line. They have a strange system of ordering. We ordered where we entered the line, then had to repeat the order to at least two more people behind the counter. No one behind the counter had a clue as to what was going on. We loved the bread products, but it was so crowded, we had to wait for a place to sit. I felt like I was in New York! The lunch menu looked good. Companion makes some wonderful breads.
