North Conway with kids
Headed to North Conway NH for the weekend-- a visit to Storyland and a trip up the cog railroad. Any recommendations for meals that aren't chains, yet kid friendly, with decent food?

Hello,
The stairway cafe is amazing, it is a rather small restaurant across from the scenic railroad but very good food. (ask for light on the cheese) The kids will love eating out on the deck. A sit down dinner? Fandangles has always won our children over. Pizza, Tony Lena's is great! I can not reccomend Elvios, bad expierience. The chinese restaurant in the mall is great and as previously said has a ticket deal with the cinema. They also have an all you can eat lunch buffet. Seafood? Jakes in Ossipee is great they have an extremly clean kitchen and friendly atmosphere. Worth the scenic drive, stop for pictures at Mt. Chocorua and Chocorua Lake. You can't miss it! ENJOY!!

It's a little too late to be responding, but in case anyone else is looking, I have two recomendations. First, on 302 just abut a mile or so before Attitash is the Spaghetti Shed. Not real itallianin italin, but homestyle, familly style Italian in a log cabin. Real local type joint. Also, best breakfast anround is the Whistle Stop, at the junction of 302 and 16 (not the big plaza but the smaller one accross the street).

I must second the rec for Flatbread Pizza. Great space, kids can sit on a bench in front of the wood oven and watch pizzas going in and out. Good tasting, and good for your stomach/soul. Don't miss the root beer float....it's a local (Maine) brewed organic root beer, the best I've ever had.

do they like chinese? if they do, in the mall directly across from WalMart is a tiny place with excellent food and a lunch/dinner buffet (which is a savior to us parents). if you have dinner you also get $2 off each ticket to the movies as well! How can you go wrong with that?
