thank-you gift ideas - Nashville

I have a friend who recently hosted me for a wonderful weekend at her home in Nashville. I live in California, and would really like to send a nice thank-you gift to her. Can anyone recommend something local that would be great to have delivered or sent by mail (such as perhaps chocolates, cookies, or other gifts) in the Nashville area? Many thanks for any ideas you might have!

Maybe it's just me, but I'd think it more appropriate to send her something local from California. ("...thanks for your hospitality and for sharing your home...here's a little token of appreciation from my home to yours...") Whatever she likes in Nashville she can get easily. I'd show your gratefulness of her hospitality by sending her a little piece of Cali.

I agree that something from California might be a real treat. I'd be thrilled with some cheese from Cowgirl Creamery or handmade soap. But if you're determined to have something typically Nashville, Pepper Patch (pepperpatch.com) has really good southern cakes, and a store in Nashville called Tennessee Memories (on Bandywood Drive; tennesseememories.com) stocks loads of lesser-know but equally wonderfulfood and other gifts from the area. I'm sure they deliver.

There's a little place outside of Lynchburg, TN, that makes really good Jack Daniel's whiskey cakes. I know they ship.

I love the CA food idea, however, something that is quintessentially Nashville are their wonderful T-cakes http://www.tntcakes.com/ or the famous GooGoo Cluster bars. http://www.googoo.com/ Both are proudly made in Nashville.
