Pu Pu platter
Sometimes I love Uchi, sometimes Vespaio - but lately I really want a pu pu platter and a scorpion bowl. I'm old enough not to know the student haunts - anyone have suggestions where one can get a classic sterno-burning, shrimp chip, BBQ rib and crab rangoon special in the Austin area. For me, paper umbrellas are a must!

I forget the name of the place, but there is Chines restaurant on Far West that my kids used to really like, especially for the pu pu platter.

re: TroyTempest
Are you maybe thinking of China Sea, troytempest? That is the only chinese joint i ever remember being on far west when i used to live over there a few years back. also nearby was China house on greystone dr. and then peony on balcones; maybe you're thinking of one of those? I've never been particularly partial to those places, but i remember enjoying old school PuPu platters at a place called Twin Lion on braker lane. It's a little place tucked away in the shopping center with the huge HEB just off the highway, and to this day they also happen to serve the best sesame chicken I ever had in austin. Crispy on the outside, lean meat, sauce a nice balance of sweet and tangy, not soggy...but I digress. I remember enjoying pu pu platters there very much, but that was, say 7 years ago. The only items I've eaten there recently are straight up Szechuan style dishes.
