CUT is booked, what's the next new steakhouse to try?

I know CUT has received controversial praise & criticism, but it's definitely the new place to try, right? But CUT is booked for the next dang month and we've got an out of towner coming in 2 weeks who wants the best meat LA has to offer. Any suggestions for what's the next "new" steak house to try? We've been to Arnie Morton's, Balboa, Boa, etc....

Thanks for your suggestions!

  1. i recommend capo, but they are not "new". maybe mastro's?

    1. I find there's either a big drop off at steakhouses between the meat and the sides, or they do everything a la carte in a mammoth check building scheme. And frankly some of those sides still ain't that good. I think a better overall balance in quality can be obtained at the likes of Josie in Santa Monica.

      1. Have you tried the Steakhouse in the Roosevelt?

Not yet. I can never recall: is it Dakota or 25 Degrees?

The steakhouse is Dakota. 25 Degrees is the Roosevelt's burger place.

Dakota. I'm not saying you HAVE to try it. But, it's a very "LA" steak place a la Cut.
Still, I like Mastros over both of those places. Remember the steak at Chasens? Wow, I liked those too.

I think I ate seafood at Chasen's but what a different world that was from today.

          2. Jar and/or Mastro's (Beverly Hills)

            1. Cut is definitely the "new" steakhouse. All the others have been around for a few years now, but Mastro's is always fantastic and busy.

              1. Not "new" but Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills.
