I recently read about the Viking Cooking School in Garden City. Looks like there are 2 types of classes, one hands on and the other is demo only. Has anyone been to the school? Any recommendations on the classes.

I did a "fish four ways" hands on class about a year and a half ago, which was very enjoyable. The chef was named Michael, I think, he was a young guy. I can't recall his exact credentials, but as I do recall, I think he had done a lot of catering. He was good and very personable. We did poached fish, fish wrapped in parchment paper, etc.

At the end you have a small meal of your creations with wine served as well. It was fun. I would definitely recommend doing it w/ someone. My husband gave it to me as a gift, but just for me. I think I was the only single, which was a little weird.

I also did a demo class for "sauces and side dishes." The demo class didn't really hold my attention.

Go for the hands on.

Intresting. I did a Spanish class there once. The teacher was some young girl in too tight pants, more interested in the men than teaching. I could have cooked better than that young Britney Spears-wanna be at home and save my wallet the aggrevation! But then I went back for a Thai class with my wife which was unbeleivable!!!! The top tip from that class had to be "shop at V&T". For anyone in the Garden City area, that place is amazing! It's located in Hempstead near Home Depot. Fresh fish and every ethnic sauce, spice, etc you would need at great prices!
