Authentic Dominican Food

PAnhandler May 29, 2007 01:07 PM

I have very little experience with Dominican food and am interested in exploring. Are there any good Dominican restaurants in Brooklyn or Manhattan? I work in midtown and live in Bay Ridge so anything in between would be great.

I don't know of anything special in Brooklyn. We have some places in Corona/Jackson Heights, Queens, but get thee to the Manhattan board and check out Washington Heights and Hamilton Heights. That's the mother lode. On Broadway around 178th I think, you have El Conde and El Malecón, but my memory fails me. I used to date a Dominican and tried lots of places. Try mondongo, the bacalao. Oh, there are so many things, lots of chicken.... etc. etc.

i heard el malecon is better than el conde, i used to get the chicken or ribs from el malecon, their mofongo is good too. they are both on 174th and broadway in washington heights, there's also another one on 182nd and St Nicholas, its new and really good, the decor is nice too, they have really good mofongo. it's called casa del mofongo (something like that) and it's right after the 1 train's 181st train stop.
